Job Description
Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. May install heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems. Includes sprinkler fitters.
Working Conditions
Metal trades pipefitting is a physically demanding trade carried out in all weather conditions and in confined places in ships. Chemical exposure is also a possibility.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least eighteen (18) years or older. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED. Must have completed one full year of high school algebra, integrated math 2, or equivalent post-high school algebra course(s) with a grade of C or better or must present current math placement test results from a community college facility indicating a placement level beyond high school level algebra. Pre-employment drug screening may be required by employer. Current, valid drivers license may be required by employer.
