About the Governor's Prosperity Council

Governor Tina Kotek created the Governor's Prosperity Council in January 2026 to advise her on near- and long-term strategies to achieve the goals in her Prosperity Roadmap

The Council’s 16 members represent different regions of the state, critical industry sectors, and labor - dedicated to the advancement of Oregon’s economic prosperity and growth.  

Their charge is to recommend actionable steps to accelerate Oregon’s economy, create good paying jobs, and recruit and grow Oregon’s businesses. 

Tim Knopp, the state’s Chief Prosperity Officer will attend Council meetings and work closely with the Council.

Strategic Goals

The Council’s work will center on the state’s role in the following areas:
  • Business Climate: Explore and recommend strategies for regulatory streamlining and potential changes in tax policy that would stimulate GDP growth, and long-term tax revenue.
  • Workforce: Explore and recommend opportunities to modernize Oregon’s workforce development systems to improve the effectiveness and relevance of training programs for our workforce and employers in growing sectors.
  • Tools for Growth: Ranging from incentives to land use, explore and recommend updates to economic development tools that reflect and support today’s business ecosystem.

Meetings

The Council will hold five work sessions, and conduct statewide community engagement. It will deliver final recommendations by June 30, 2026.

Statewide Engagement

Through statewide community engagement, the Prosperity Council is creating opportunities for Oregonians from every corner of the state to share their insights, experiences, and ideas about our collective economic future. Feedback will help shape and drive the work of the Council. 

  • Online Survey: 15-minute or less, a way to provide clear feedback and ideas to the Council. The survey will close March 20, 2026. Please fill out the survey by clicking here
  • Facilitated Meeting Guide: an online guide to be used to facilitate a listening session for a small or mid-size group. Feedback from facilitated meetings will support the advancement of Oregon’s economic prosperity and growth. Feedback from facilitated meetings should be submitted by March 15, 2026. 
Engagement results will be synthesized for the Council.
