La Plaza Esperanza Grand Opening
April 17, 2025
¡Felicidades! La Plaza Esperanza is more than just a preschool or a community center – it is a homegrown space for culture, identity, language, and pride to flourish. It's a place where children will grow up knowing their roots and develop confidence in themselves.
To everyone who dreamed this into reality: thank you for planting seeds for generations to come. Thank you to the Latino Network staff for their hard work, and thank you to all the friends of La Plaza Esperanza who helped make today’s grand opening possible, including U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, the City of Gresham, Multnomah County, and residents of the Rockwood community.
I was there when the initial conversations to fund this dream began more than five years ago. I was with you when I was Speaker of the House and the state committed $4.4 million to help breathe this dream into reality. I was here when this project broke ground two years ago. And it is so wonderful to be here today with you to celebrate.
La Plaza Esperanza represents resilience, love, and the power of comunidad. May it be a place where traditions are honored, families are supported, and every child knows they belong.
Adelante con fuerza y corazón—this region of Oregon just got a whole lot richer with the voices and vision of this space here today. Congratulations!
