Thank you for being here today, ready to share your experiences with me. 

Latino business ownership is essential to the economic prosperity for Latino Oregonians. I also know that too many of you have faced barriers that shouldn't exist while navigating the challenges of owning and operating a business—from accessing capital to navigating permitting, from finding affordable commercial space to competing for state contracts. These aren't just challenges; they're longstanding injustices that need to be addressed. I’m here today because your voices must continuously inform the policies we create so that tomorrow looks different than yesterday.

The Latino community in Oregon is diverse and vibrant - composed of citizens, residents, and new arrivals. I would be remiss not to mention the very real fear and damage that has been inflicted on many in the Latino community by the Federal Government. As Governor, I am committed to the safety and prosperity of every Oregonian, from recent immigrants to Oregonians who have been here for generations. Oregon remains committed to our strong sanctuary state laws. Immigrant communities are essential to our state, and Oregon will not be bullied into abandoning our values.

Thank you for your time, your honesty, and your willingness to share this space with me today. Your insights will help to inform how we move forward.
