Lloyd Music Venue Groundbreaking

Portland is on the rise again – even though not everyone in D.C. wants to admit it – and it’s projects like this that tell the real story of our city.

That story is not just about the world-class music venue that will one day stand behind me – it’s about the amazing artists who will perform here and the people who will bring this area to life every night the music plays. This project celebrates a core part of Portland’s identity:  a city that creates, attracts, and inspires extraordinary talent — and the passionate audiences who show up to experience it.

We know that Portland’s success is critical for Oregon's success. Portland is the economic engine of our state, and a front door to visitors coming to our beautiful state.

Incredible things happen here in Portland, especially when we open our hands and hearts to partnerships across sectors – and start from “yes, how do we get there together?”

That’s how we got here, today. Congratulations to everyone for this groundbreaking!

This venue fits perfectly into the fabric of Portland’s robust culture of music, and will create even more opportunities for national, regional, and local artists.

And creating this place, here in the Lloyd District, will bring a new legacy to this neighborhood. This is a catalytic project for this community and serves as a cornerstone for future redevelopment of the Lloyd Center mall.

This location -- with easy access to light rail, streetcar and bus lines and the north-south Blumenauer bike bridge – this venue ties together everything that makes Portland unique and vibrant.
