How We're Protecting Oregonians
The Emergency Response Division of the Oregon State Fire Marshal is dedicated to protecting people, property, and the environment through effective emergency response, training, and resource coordination. This division manages a variety of essential programs, including the state's Regional Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Teams, hazmat by rail responder training, OSFM’s all-hazard incident management teams, and the Oregon Fire Service Mutual Aid System.
Following legislation in 2021, the division’s capacity and responsibilities have grown to meet the increasing demands of emergency response, especially in the face of Oregon’s wildfire crisis. Programs like Response Ready Oregon and the wildfire seasonal staffing grant have strengthened our ability to protect communities, particularly in high-risk areas. The OSFM Engine Program and other response efforts ensure that Oregon is always prepared to respond when it matters most.
