How We're Protecting Oregonians

Welcome to the Fire & Life Safety Division, the largest branch of our agency dedicated to protecting Oregonians. Our team of 26 deputy state fire marshals (DSFM) and four supervisors work tirelessly across the state to ensure safety in schools, correctional facilities, and more.

We specialize in fire code enforcement, fire investigations, building inspections, and providing expert training to local fire services. From determining the cause of fires to assisting with youth fire safety programs, our mission is to enhance safety and prevent fire hazards throughout Oregon.
