2025 Oregon Fire Code
The Oregon Fire Code plays a crucial role in protecting the lives and property of Oregonians. Fire safety is a shared responsibility, and the code serves as a comprehensive guide for building owners, architects, contractors, and emergency responders, ensuring that fire prevention and protection measures are effectively implemented across the state.
By establishing uniform standards, the Oregon Fire Code helps mitigate the risks associated with fire hazards, explosions, and other dangerous conditions. Its guidelines are designed to protect occupants in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, ensuring that everyone can enjoy safe and secure environments.
The adoption of the 2025 Oregon Fire Code (OFC) has an effective date of October 1, 2025. For the purposes of implementing a phase-in period for the 2025 OFC, the 2022 OFC may be used in new construction plan reviews for a period of 180-days beginning October 1, 2025, and ending March 31, 2026. During the 180-day phase-in period, new construction plan reviews will be reviewed to either the 2025 OFC or the 2022 OFC, as directed by the local building official.
