The Oregon Real Estate Agency's regulatory authority is established through Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) Chapters, 94, 100, and 696, with additional clarifying and operational language found in Oregon Administrative Rules

However, there are other state and federal laws that, if violated, could put you at risk. To help keep you informed, we have been asked to share two publications:

Advisory to Financial Institutions and Real Estate Firms and Professionals from the U.S. Department of Treasury Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
Reporting Cash Payments of Over $10,000 by the Internal Revenue Service.

Please pay particular attention to the definition of “cash" as described in these documents. If you are ever asked to handle cash in a transaction, please refer to these documents and seek additional advice as appropriate.
