Collaborative Accessibility

"Some men see things as they are, and ask why. I dream of things that never were, and ask why not." – Robert Kennedy
The Oregon Department of Education is committed to making its electronic and information technologies accessible to individuals with disabilities. This is where you can get involved in that ongoing effort. Whether you are disabled or just wish to support that community, this is where you can learn of our accessibility policies and their implementation initiatives. Just as importantly, you can join our accessibility community to affect those policies and participate in the initiatives. Students, teachers, and change makers -- talk to us.

Accessibility News

08/01/17: The Oregon Department of Education has contracted a vendor to provide an independent accessibility assessment of the ODE, OSD, ELD, and YDD websites. They are Trusted Testers certified by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Accessible Systems & Technology to analyze and report on compliance to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. In addition, a subcontractor will conduct a usability analysis going beyond legal compliance to answer the question, "Are the disabled truly empowered to make efficient use of our learning resources?"
