About the Medical Marijuana Dispensary Program
The Medical Marijuana Dispensary Program is responsible for the licensing, regulation and oversight of medical marijuana facilities in Oregon. Dispensaries distribute medical marijuana to patients and caregivers who are registered with the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP). From October 1, 2015 through December 31, 2016, dispensaries may sell limited amounts of recreational marijuana to adults 21 and older, per Senate Bill 460.

Current legal status of medical marijuana dispensaries in Oregon
As of March 3, 2014, only facilities registered by the Oregon Health Authority may provide certain exceptions from Oregon criminal laws governing the possession, delivery or production of marijuana as specified in ORS 475.309.
Nothing in Oregon law protects dispensaries, growers, caregivers or patients from federal prosecution.
