Using analysis software to determine nutrient values for your menu items is an acceptable method determined by the Menu Labeling Act. Getting accurate nutrient values with analysis software is dependent on training and knowledge about food preparation methods and ingredients.

Nutritional analysis using laboratory analysis is an approved method for providing nutrition menu labeling information.
In order to ensure accurate nutrient values for your menu items, it may be helpful to have someone knowledgeable in food science and trained in nutrition to conduct the nutritional analysis. Registered Dietitians and Registered Dietetic Technicians are examples of trained professionals available to provide this service. To find a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietetic Technician in your area, contact the Oregon Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
