Commissioner Val Hoyle

Oregon’s statewide Labor Commissioner Val Hoyle was elected in May 2018. Previously, she was a State Representative and House Majority Leader. Hoyle spent 25 years working in the bicycle industry in domestic and international trade. She lives outside of Springfield, Oregon with her husband and her dog and has two grown children.

Commissioner Hoyle's priorities

  • Protect workers’ rights
  • Enforce civil rights laws and stop discrimination
  • Provide expert guidance and support to businesses
  • Increase access to apprenticeship programs for women and people of color, and expand apprenticeship programs to new industries
  • Make the work of the Bureau of Labor and Industries accessible and transparent to all Oregonians
