After the 2025 legislative session, MLAC directed two subcommittees to discuss legislation proposed during the 2025 session: access to care for injured workers and an increase in temporary total disability benefits for low-income workers. From those subcommittees, stakeholders initiated legislative concepts for the 2026 session: House Bill (HB) 4040 and Senate Bill (SB) 1519. MLAC supported, and the Oregon Legislature passed, both bills during the 2026 session.

HB 4040 added nurse practitioners and physician associates to full attending physician status.
