ENROLLED AGENT INFORMATION - SB 1510
Effective June 5, 2026, SB 1510 allows Enrolled Agents to apply to become Registered Enrolled Agents (REA's) in Oregon to be able to work on Oregon Personal Income Tax Returns for a fee. REA's may practice in Oregon without taking the state-specific examination or submitting Continuing Education (CE) credits to renew their Registration. REA's must renew their registration status with the board annually during the renewal period which will be May. Renewals will open annually on April 15th and run through May 31st.

Eligible Enrolled Agents are encouraged to review the application requirements and submit their registration materials to the Board by either fax, e-mail or regular mail.
Please note that anyone who prepares Oregon personal income tax returns for compensation must be Licensed or Registered with the Board of Tax Practitioners.

REGISTERED TAX AIDE (RTA) PROGRAM INFORMATION
Registered Tax Aides can either take a 40-Hour course or show that they have the equivilant hours in college courses by submitting an official transcript. This Registration type allows RTA's to enter data into Oregon Personal Income Tax Returns and sit in on client interviews as long as they are being properly supervised by either an LTC, REA, CPA, PA or an Attorney. An RTA must be supervised 100% of the time they are working on Oregon Personal Income Tax Returns for a fee. An RTA is not able to complete an Oregon Personal Income Tax Return or sign an Oregon Personal Income Tax Return. RTA's must renew their registration stauts with the board annually during the renwal period which will be November. Renewals will open annually on October 15th and run through November 30th.
