Emergency Response

.

In 2021, the U.S. experienced 20 natural disasters that effected 1 in 10 homes, resulting in at least $1 billion in damages.

The number and cost of natural disasters has increased since 1980. OregonServes works to increase resources to be able to respond to the rise in natural disasters.

OregonServes in Disaster Response

Oregon Serves is a partner in Oregon’s Emergency Response Plan for managing Volunteers and Donations. We focus our efforts in the following areas:

  • Resource development
  • Volunteer coordination
  • Increasing support to communities
  • Expanding access to service

OregonServes increases response and recovery resources by administering an online volunteer management and recruitment system:

Oregon Volunteers in Disaster (ORVID) is an online statewide, disaster volunteer management system, licensed and managed by OregonServes. ORVID is a free system that provides emergency response managers the ability to manage, track and credential volunteers, and for volunteers to connect to opportunities to help in their communities.

AmeriCorps Program and Planning Grant Funds

OregonServes supplies AmeriCorps grant funding for the creation of Disaster Corps programs. These programs increase the national service response to disaster in Oregon.

Interested in learning more about grant funding? Visit our funding page.

We also serve as the statewide hub for AmeriCorps in Oregon, connecting local organizations to federal AmeriCorps response and recovery teams, such as AmeriCorps NCCC and FEMA Corps.
