Information Regarding Recent Legislation

  1. OSBN Statement on the Use of Health Care Interpreters
The Oregon State Board of Nursing supports health equity, diversity and inclusion for all Oregonians.  With the recent passage of HB 2359, our licensees and applicants need to be educated and informed about the requirements for health care interpreters for our clients who prefer to communicate in a language other than English.  Health care providers in Oregon must utilize the Oregon Health Care Interpreter Registry and annotate within the client's medical record: (a) The name of the health care interpreter; (b) The health care interpreter's registry number; and (c) The language interpreted.
