Grant Related Letters of Support

Requesting a letter of support

If your organization is applying for an outside grant or other funding (not connected to the state budget), you may be able to request a letter of support from the Oregon Department of the State Fire Marshal. Submission of a request does not guarantee a letter will be approved.

To qualify, your request needs to meet certain requirements and be submitted early enough for review. Here’s what you should know:

Relevant topic: The funding request must connect to the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s work, like:

  • Wildfire response, preparedness, or mitigation

  • Fire prevention or response

  • Community wildfire risk reduction or Fire Adapted Oregon principles

  • Firefighter safety, equipment, or engines

  • Hazardous materials training, safety, response, equipment, or preparedness

  • Regulatory services

Draft included: You must provide a suggested draft of the support letter.

Timeline: Allow at least 10 business days for review and response.

Submission: All requests must be made through OSFM’s Letter of Support system
