Blue Mountain Recovery Center (BMRC - formerly known as Eastern Oregon Psychiatric Center and Eastern Oregon State Hospital) is a 60-bed inpatient adult mental health care facility in Pendleton, operated by the Oregon Health Authority's Addictions and Mental Health Division.
Blue Mountain Recovery Center's physicians, nurses, therapists and other staff are committed to providing high-quality psychiatric and medical care that includes:
- Personalized recovery services for all clients;
- Client participation in individualized treatment planning;
- Promoting family involvement as appropriate to enhance recovery; and
- Partnering with community members to provide vocational, educational, social, recreational and spiritual opportunities.
After 100 years of operation, BMRC is closing at the end of December 2013
Eastern Oregon residents who need state hospital-level of psychiatric care will be served at the Portland and Salem campuses of the Oregon State Hospital. The Addictions and Mental Health Division will continue current protocols for hospital admissions with the location of the beds being the only difference.
Blue Mountain Recovery Center stopped accepting new patients October 11, 2013. Until closure, BMRC will continue to treat its current patients and assist them with transition back to the community when they are ready. In December, all remaining patients at BMRC will be transferred to the Oregon State Hospitals in Salem and Portland.
The Oregon State Hospital has been planning for this transition and is ready to accommodate additional patients. The hospital will be monitoring the transition closely to ensure all patients' needs are met.
