Healthy Kids Plan Update
Oregon voters did not approve Measure 50, which proposed an increase in tobacco tax revenue to fund Oregon’s Healthy Kids Plan. This means Oregon cannot afford to start this new program.
What happens next?
There are still an estimated 67,000 Oregon children who qualify for existing medical assistance programs. DHS will continue to reach out to those who may qualify today.
The Oregon Health Fund Board continues to work on a comprehensive state health reform plan to ensure access to health care for Oregonians, contain health care costs, and address issues of quality in health care. Once completed, this plan will be presented to the 2009 Oregon Legislative Assembly for approval and vote.
