Tips to Help You "Get the Word Out" Your LSTA grant is recognition of excellence that should be shared with the public. As a grant recipient, you are required to acknowledge the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Library Services Technology Act. The following text must be used to acknowledge IMLS/LSTA supported publications, activities, projects, Web sites, etc.: This (project, program, publication) is supported in whole or part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oregon State Library. Activity Ideas to "Get the Word Out" 1. Send a news release about your grant to your local newspapers, television stations, radio stations, and library newsletters and magazines. A sample news release and IMLS logos are available on the Web at: http://www.osl.state.or.us/home/libdev/lstagrantee.htm 2. Send a letter of congratulations to your board, patrons, friends, and all in the community who support your library. 3. Publish the IMLS logo and tagline in your library's newsletter and other print materials with stories about the grant's activities. 4. Hang a banner of the IMLS logo in front of your library to celebrate your accomplishment. 5. Host a congratulatory reception or open house for your community to celebrate and learn about the LSTA grant award. 6. The IMLS Director travels extensively throughout the country on site visits. Contact the IMLS at www.imls.gov or (202) 606-8339 to find out when the Director will be traveling in your region. The Director may be able to arrange a visit to your library to congratulate your staff in person. If so, IMLS staff will help arrange publicity to cover the Director's visit to your library. 7. Send copies of any press clips as well as photographs and testimony about how your community will benefit from the grant award to the State Library so that we can help share your story. |
