About Talking Books
The Oregon Talking Book and Braille Library aims to inspire and support the love of reading and lifelong learning for over 4,400 Oregonians with print disabilities.
Located in Salem, Oregon, Talking Books is a division of the State Library Oregon. We assist our patrons over the phone and via email, and send reading materials straight to their homes via free mail. We also record materials that are added to a national collection, produce newsletters, offer programming, and conduct outreach in order to spread the word about all of our great services!

We function as a regional library of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS). NLS is a free audiobook and Braille library service for people with temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical, perceptual or reading disability that prevents them from using regular print materials. Through a national network of cooperating libraries, NLS circulates books and magazines in audio and Braille that are instantly downloadable to a personal device or delivered by mail free of charge.
