2017 Bridge Deck Seal Project

Region 1: Portland metro and Hood River County (Lake Oswego, Portland, Tigard, Tualatin, Multnomah, Washington)


​ODOT will perform bridge deck seals on 16 bridges or ramps along I-5 from Tualatin to North Portland as part of a maintenance project.

Traffic Impact

​Each​ location has different traffic impacts. Please see the list of locations to learn about them. When night work is necessary, those closest to the workzone may experience some nighttime noise. For urgent nighttime noise complaints, call 503-283-5859.

TriMet bus stops may be temporarily closed or relocated. Visit TriMet alerts for information.

Schedule

Work will take place from Sept. 6 through October 2017. Dates provided for each area are approximations. Visit TripCheck.com for up-to-date impacts. 
This work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled in wet or cold weather.

This work is highly weather dependent. Dates provided below are approximations as to when work will take place. 

Nyberg Street ramps at Interstate 5 (Exit 289) -- September 23 & 25
Work will take place on 4 nights from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on weekdays or until 8 a.m. on weekends.
The northbound on- and off-ramps will be closed while bridge work occurs. When the northbound on-ramp is closed, head south on I-5 to Exit 286, exit and return north. When the Exit 289 off-ramp is closed, continue north to Exit 290, exit and return south.

Carman Drive over Interstate 5 -- September 25-26
Work will take place on 1 night from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on weekdays or until 8 a.m. on weekends.
The bridge over I-5 and off-ramps will be closed while bridge work occurs. Westbound traffic should head south on I-5 to Exit 290, return north and take Exit 291. Eastbound traffic should head north on I-5 to Exit 292B, return south and take Exit 291.
People walking or biking will be allowed through the work zone.

Oregon 217/Kruse Way over Interstate 5 -- September 27-30
Work will take place on 5 nights from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on
weekdays or until 8 a.m. on weekends.
Southbound traffic on the bridge and the left-turn lane to I-5 south will be closed while work occurs. Southbound OR 217 traffic should head south on I-5 to Exit 291, return north and take Exit 292B. When the turn lane is closed, continue north on OR 217 and take Exit 7. Return southbound on OR 217 and take the ramp to I-5 south. People walking or biking will be allowed through the work zone.

SW 19th Avenue over Interstate 5 -- September 30
​Work will take place on 1 Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Northbound traffic will be closed during work and travelers should use an alternate route.
People walking or biking will be allowed through the work zone.

Oregon 99W and Interstate 5 interchange at Terwilliger -- October 2-6
Work will take place on 6 nights from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on weekdays or until 8 a.m. on weekends.
When the ramps to I-5 north are closed, continue south on OR 99W and turn left onto SW 19th Avenue. Turn right onto SW Spring Garden Street and take the on-ramp to I-5 north. When Exit 297 is closed, continue north, take Exit 299A and follow signs for I-5 south. Then take Exit 297 to access Terwilliger Boulevard.

SW Brier Place over Interstate 5 -- September 23
Work will take place on up to 2 days from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Traffic on SW Brier Place will be open in both directions, but directed by flaggers through a single travel lane. People walking or biking will be allowed through the work zone.

N Vancouver and N Flint Avenues over Interstate 5 --Complete
At N Vancouver Avenue, work will take place on 2 nights from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on weekdays or until 8 a.m. on weekends. At N Flint Avenue, the work will take place on two days at any time be-fore the end of October.​
One lane of N Vancouver Avenue will be open at all times. One lane of northbound Flint Avenue will remain open at all times, but southbound Flint Avenue will be closed. Travelers should use an alternate route.
People walking or biking will be allowed through the work zone.

North Greeley Avenue off-ramp from Interstate 5 -- Complete
Work will take place on 3 nights from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
The off-ramp will be closed during work. Traffic should continue north to Exit 303. Head west on North Going Street to reach Greeley Avenue.

North Skidmore Street over Interstate 5 -- Complete
​Work will take place on 1 Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
North Skidmore Street will be closed during work. From the west, head north on North Interstate Avenue, then turn right onto North Alberta and right onto North Albina. From the east, take North Mississippi Avenue and North Alberta across I-5.
People walking or biking will be allowed through the work zone.

North Killingsworth Street over Interstate 5 -- September 27
Work will take place on 1 night from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on weekdays or until 8 a.m. on weekends.
North Killingsworth Street will be closed in both directions during bridge work. From the west, head north on North Intersate Avenue, then turn right onto North Ainsworth Street and right onto North Albina. Reverse directions for traffic from the east.

Interstate 5 at Victory Boulevard -- September 25-27
Work will take place on 4 nights from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on weekdays or until 8 a.m. on weekends.
Expect single and double lane closures on I-5 in both directions during construction. Exit 307 will be closed for one night of work.
