The Oregon Alliance Working for Antibiotic Resistance Education (AWARE) is a statewide coalition that promotes the appropriate use of antibiotics.
We educate the public and support health care providers in making judicious prescribing decisions. The partnership includes physicians, health care providers, public health agencies, higher education representatives and consumer/community-based organizations.
Mission
Oregon AWARE encourages the appropriate use of antibiotics and aims to reduce the problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in Oregon.
Goals
- To raise public awareness about the importance of using antibiotics wisely.
- To encourage Oregon’s physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners to appropriately prescribe antibiotics.
- To enlist the aid of community-based organizations to reduce the unnecessary use of antibiotics and promote self-care for viral illnesses.
