You are a contractor if you have or should have a Construction Contractors Board (CCB) license. Examples of contractors include construction and renovation contractors, painters and other speciality trades.

Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule for Contractors

The Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule requires renovators or maintenance professionals that work in housing, child care facilities and schools built prior to 1978 be trained and certified by an EPA/OHA accredited training provider and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.

About the Rule

The rule was issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2008. The RRP rule became fully effective April 22, 2010. Soon after, EPA authorized the Construction Contractors Board (CCB) of Oregon and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to administer the rule at the state level.

In Oregon, CCB issues the annual license to contractors that have completed RRP training. The OHA administers the rule for non-contractors (school districts, child care and landlords and property managers).
