Plinkit was a free web-hosting service provided to Oregon public libraries developed and supported by the Oregon State Library and paid for by the IMLS through LSTA funds. Libraries using Plinkit received a pre-built web site that they could update and maintain, no-cost hosting, and free training, documentation, and technical support.
Plinkit was based on an open-source software content management system (Plone) that was extremely user-friendly for library staff and supported the replication of template sites for easy launching of new web sites.
In the fall of 2013 the State Library announced that the Plinkit project would be discontinued; assistance and technical support was provided to libraries through June 30, 2015 as they moved to new web hosting solutions.
