Circulation Supervisor

Pacific University Libraries, Forest Grove Campus seeks applicants for a Circulation Supervisor. This 9 month, 25-30 hour/week permanent position is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of Circulation. The Circulation Supervisor possesses a thorough knowledge of established library procedures and technical systems. S/he performs independent paraprofessional work that requires exercising independent judgment, solving problems of limited complexity, and implementation of applicable policies and procedures. Trains and supervises student assistants. Works collaboratively with Access Services, Collection Management Services, and Systems staff located on the Forest Grove and Hillsboro campuses in support of library-wide functions and operations. Assists students, faculty, and staff with their library service needs. Reports to the Circulation Manager. This is a permanent, benefit-eligible position, working during the academic year (mid-August to mid-May), average 30 hours per week, including some weekends and evenings.

Temporary Reference/Instruction Librarian

The Clark Library at the University of Portland seeks a Temporary Reference/Instruction librarian to work for approximately 9 weeks at the start of fall semester. Key duties: Works as part of the reference team to provide research assistance to the campus community. Assists reference librarians to prepare for classes. Qualifications: MLS degree or equivalent from an ALA accredited program, knowledge of online and print reference sources, ability to effectively use technology, excellent oral communication skills, and the ability to interact positively with an academic population. Reference and instruction experience is preferred. Work Schedule: 4 hours per day Sunday through Thursday, 1:00 – 5:00 pm at the beginning of the university’s fall semester, anticipated employment dates are August 21st to October 23rd with the week of fall break off. Salary: $26 per hour; no benefits.
