Where to Register

Three Options to Register your Boat

  • Online using the Marine Board's store, which is the fastest way to renew. A temporary permit can be printed so the boat can be used right away. Decals are mailed in 7-10 business days.
  • Paying at a Boat Registration Agent (See list and interactive map below). The agent (may charge a processing fee) will issue a temporary permit so the boat can be used right away.   Registration delivery can fluctuate with the boating season and may take 1 to 5 weeks from the date received by the Marine Board.
  • Mailing through US Mail. A boat registration renewal coupon is sent to the registered owner every two years near the registration expiration date.  Return the coupon with the registration fee with the amount indicated.  Registration delivery can fluctuate with the boating season and may take 1 to 5 weeks from the date received by the Marine Board.

Agents are available as a convenience for our customers and are not state employees.

Provide original documents when submitting transactions through agents.
If you have a complicated transaction, please call the Marine Board at:
503-378-8587 for assistance.

The Marine Board only titles and registers boats.  Trailers are registered through the Department of Motor Vehicles.
