How do I open an account?

Steps to opening an account

  1. Access the list of Bank On certified accounts available in Oregon.
  2. Compare available accounts. This resource from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) can help you compare accounts and choose one that best meets your needs.
  3. Schedule an appointment to open the account with the bank or credit union you have selected. Some accounts can be opened online.
  4. Bring necessary information and an initial deposit to the bank or credit union. You will need current government-issued identification. Some banks and credit unions may accept other IDs as well. Most banks and credit unions will request a second form of ID. This checklist can help you prepare for the account opening process.
  5. Open your new account. The employee at the bank or credit union will help you through the entire process. Ask the employee if the company offers money management training classes to help you get the most from your new account.
