SB1535 Workgroup

Senate Bill 1535 directs the Department of Early Learning and Care to convene a work group to study the cost and availability of liability insurance and other liability issues for child care providers.

Workgroup Purpose

DELC is convening a workgroup under Oregon’s Senate Bill 1535 that will explore liability-related challenges faced by child care providers. Specifically, it must:

Study the cost and availability of liability insurance, as well as broader liability issues, for child care providers.
Explore policy options to help increase provider access to liability insurance and reduce the financial burden associated with it.
Report its findings to the Legislature by November 1, 2027.

This workgroup is composed of a wide variety of child care providers, representation from the insurance industry, and subject matter experts around the state.
