Oregon Agricultural Workforce Housing Grant Program

In 2023, the Oregon Legislature allocated $5 million to the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) for the Oregon Agriculture Workforce Housing Grant (OAWFG), available through January 2, 2026. This program funds a grant program to provide financial help to improve the health and safety of existing housing for agricultural workers and their families, as defined in ORS 315.163.

Applications and all required documents must be submitted by March 18, 2025. Applications will be reviewed to ensure they meet ODA’s program rules (OAR 603-007-0011 to -0071). The grant period will begin after the agreement is confirmed (around May 2025) and run through December 31, 2025.

Application Requirements

To apply for funding, applicants must complete and submit the following:

Oregon Agriculture Workforce Housing Grant Application Form (OAWFG) Application form
Copy of OR-OSHA Agricultural Labor Housing and Related Facility Registration
Documentation of costs for requested items
Property Owner Authorization form (if the property owner is different from the applicant)

Recommended (but not required) attachments:

Project description attachments, such as site photos or renderings of the project

Grant funds cannot be used for:

Housing provided as a requirement for workers under the H-2A program or any other temporary employment visa program, nor may it be used to justify applications for any temporary visa program during the grant period.
Construction of new housing units.
Routine operational or maintenance expenses.
Purchase of land or existing properties.
Costs incurred before October 1, 2024.
