A special pasture-to-pasture grazing program exists for
cattle shipped to another cooperating state for grazing. All cattle moved on
the pasture-to-pasture permit (pasture permit) must be returned to the state of
origin after the grazing season.

- Application submitted at least 20 days before moving cattle.
Pasture permit application process
Cattle entering Oregon
The owner should apply for a pasture permit at least 20 days
before the proposed movement. Obtain the application from the State
Veterinarian's Office in the state where the cattle originate. All cooperating
states require trichomoniasis testing for bulls being moved on pasture permits.

application
- Fax the completed application to the ODA Animal Health
Office
- Application is reviewed and approved by the state
veterinarians of Oregon and the state of destination
- Copy of approved permit is sent to the owner
- Animals may be shipped after the approved pasture permit is
received
- Approved pasture permit must accompany each load of cattle
- Pasture-to-Pasture permits are valid for 6 months
Applications are processed in the order received. Please
allow at least 20 days for processing.
Steers moving with their mothers can move as breeder or
commuter cattle. Steers moving without their mothers are subject to other state
requirements.
Ownership inspection (i.e., brand inspection) is required
for all cattle leaving Oregon for any reason. Please schedule inspections at
least 24 hours prior to moving cattle.
This permit may be used in place of a Certificate of
Veterinary Inspection (CVI) allowing cattle to move from one state to another
cooperating state for grazing.
