Kevin Olineck Offered Position of Director of the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System

(Tigard, OR) --- Today, the PERS Board offered Kevin P. Olineck the position of Director of the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System. The PERS Board introduced Mr. Olineck to stakeholders and staff at their regular meeting this morning.

“After an extensive recruitment process, the Board is happy to offer Mr. Olineck the position of Director of PERS,” John Thomas, PERS Board Chair, said. “He has the depth and breadth of management and retirement plan experience that will be valuable to advise the agency as we continue to navigate conversations about system funding and service to our members.”

Mr. Olineck currently serves as Vice President, Member Experience, with the British Columbia Pension Corporation. In addition to his nine years of service at BC Pension, Mr. Olineck also served in leadership positions at Alberta Pensions Services for more than nine years.

“His recent focus on developing a Client Service Delivery Model at BC Pension, which enhanced online member services, websites, and communications, fits well with advising on the PERS 2018-2023 Strategic Plan to help members plan for retirement over their entire career,” said Steve Demarest, PERS Board member and SEIU President.

“Mr. Olineck has a background of setting strategic directions for organizations and executing to those plans. This experience will be important to PERS as retirement volume increases and the use of technology changes in coming years,” said Lawrence Furnstahl, PERS Board Vice Chair and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Oregon Health & Science University.

Yvette Elledge-Rhodes will serve as interim Director of PERS from June 2 to July 15, 2018. Ms. Elledge-Rhodes is the Deputy Director and her appointment will allow for a smooth administrative transition in leadership of the agency.
