Protect Yourself from Fraud: Scam Attempts Involving PERS

Scammers continue to find new ways to target individuals. It is important to guard yourself against fraud and be vigilant about the information you share.

It is important to remember that PERS staff do not make unsolicited calls to members and will never directly ask for any personal financial information or account login information. In addition, if you receive a call from PERS staff, this would usually only be when we are following up on a request you made or in regard to a form or action that you took.

If you receive a call from someone claiming they are from PERS—or from a number that shows up on your caller ID purporting to be PERS—be aware that an actual PERS staff member would never ask you for your credit card, debit card, or other financial information, or attempt to access your account.

If you are ever unsure if someone is actually from PERS, you can always call us back directly at 888-320-7377 and speak with a Member Services representative. PERS staff will always confirm your identity to safeguard your personal and financial information.

Security Notice: If you have not yet created an Online Member Services (OMS) (pension information) or IAP.Voya.com (Individual Account Program access) account, it is strongly recommended you do so, in order to best protect your account information from unauthorized access or alteration.
