Overview
Health insurance is an important piece when considering
retirement and PHIP is an option for your retiree health coverage. PHIP offers
health insurance coverage for you, your spouse, and dependents who meet the
eligibility requirements. When planning your retirement, review all health
coverage options available to determine the best option for your family.
PHIP
offers both Medicare and non-Medicare health plans to eligible PERS retirees,
their spouses and dependents, as well as dental coverage. All health plans
include prescription drug coverage. To participate in PHIP, you must be a PERS
retiree and maintain a permanent residence (not mailing address) within a
health plans service area and within the United States.
Medicare:
PHIP requires all Medicare-eligible members and eligible
dependents to be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B.

PacificSource Medicare, Providence Health Assurance, and UnitedHealthcare
Non-Medicare:

Dental:
You can enroll in either dental plan regardless of your
medical plan selection. However, for Kaiser Permanente dental, you must reside in
the Kaiser Permanente dental plan service area. PHIP offers dental plans through
Kaiser Permanente and Delta Dental of Oregon.
