PERS Health Insurance Program (PHIP)

Health insurance is an important piece when considering retirement, and PHIP is an option for your retiree health coverage. PHIP offers health insurance coverage for you, your spouse, and dependents who meet the eligibility requirements. When planning your retirement, review all health coverage options available to determine the best option for your family.

PHIP offers both Medicare and non-Medicare health plans to eligible PERS retirees, their spouses and dependents, as well as dental coverage. All health plans include prescription drug coverage. To participate in PHIP, you must be a PERS retiree and maintain a permanent residence (not mailing address) within a health plans service area and within the United States.

PHIP requires all Medicare-eligible members and eligible dependents to be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B.

  • Medicare Supplement — Moda Health
  • Medicare Advantage (MA plans) — Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the NW, PacificSource Medicare, Providence Medicare Advantage Plans, and UnitedHealthcare

Not yet eligible for receiving Medicare? PHIP offers a selection of non-Medicare plans.

    • Core Value Traditional HMO plan
    • HSA-qualified High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
