PSRB Legislative Workgroup (2019-2021)
This PSRB workgroup, convened by Senator Floyd Prozanski at the request of the PSRB following the 2019 legislative session, aimed to address concerns about the PSRB within the context of Oregon's forensic mental health system. Comprising members from the legislature, state agencies, advocacy organizations, the legal community, law enforcement, and the mental health sector, the group held over a dozen meetings in to identify issues and develop recommendations.
The resulting report provides background on the PSRB and outlines a range of problem areas and recommendations that extend beyond legislative changes, addressing administrative rules, court processes, interdisciplinary training, and best practices. It emphasizes the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to enhance communication and improve outcomes for individuals under PSRB jurisdiction while prioritizing public safety.
