AASHTO – American Association of State Highwayand Transportation Officials AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
It represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail and water. Its primary goal is to foster the development, operation and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)/Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is an independent, nonprofit, scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing the losses — deaths, injuries, and property damage — from crashes on the nation's highways.
The Highway Loss Data Institute's mission is to compute and publish insurance loss results by make and model. Both organizations are wholly supported by auto insurers.
NationalCenterfor Bicycling and Walking The National Center for Bicycling & Walking (NCBW) is the major program of the Bicycle Federation of America, Inc. (BFA), a national, nonprofit [501(c)(3)] corporation established in 1977. Our mission is to create bicycle-friendly and walkable communities. The NCBW is governed by a volunteer board of directors and operates from offices located in Bethesda, MD (headquarters); Chestertown, MD; Maplewood, NJ; Missoula, MT; and the Silver Twinkie (OR).
Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center “The PBIC is made up of the core staff of professionals at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Highway Safety Research Center, including engineers, urban planners, public information specialists, web site specialists, researchers, computer programmers, communication specialists, and others. We also have an on-site coordinator in the Washington, D.C. office, and a team of other Organizations and Consultants who work with the PBIC on a variety of tasks. We have assembled a team of professionals who are very knowledgeable on walking and bicycling issues and who are truly committed to improving safety, health, and mobility for those who wish to walk or bicycle.”

IPBI, Initiative for Bicycle and Pedestrian Innovation is an exciting new center for research and learning that is focused on bicycle and pedestrian travel. IBPI's aim is to advance bicycling and walking as integral elements of the transportation system in Oregon’s communities. The Initiative's programs include research, education, and information-sharing across sectors, interests, and institutions that will enhance policies, programs, and projects focused on promoting bicycle and pedestrian transportation.
