Oregon 99W (Pacific Highway West)

Oregon Highway 99W – Southwest 72nd Avenue to Oregon 217

Project Description: The required road improvements include widening Oregon Highway 99W southbound to include a new lane and sidewalk, a landscaped center median and widening the OR 217 northbound off-ramp to Southwest 72nd Avenue. This construction project is being done by a private contractor and is required by the City of Tigard for the development of a WalMart store on Dartmouth Street along OR 99W. A contractor for WalMart will make the required road improvements. Lanes will not close during daytime hours.

Traffic Impacts: This project is complete.

Oregon Highway 99W at Southwest Gaarde/McDonald Street intersection

Project Description: The intersection improvement project on Oregon Highway 99 West, from the Southwest Gaarde Street/McDonald Street intersection to Bull Mountain Road in the City of Tigard, will include adding turn lanes on OR 99W, an additional southbound lane on OR 99W southbound and an additional lane on Southwest Gaarde Street and Southwest McDonald Street.  Work should be complete by the end of 2015.

Traffic Impacts: Several utility companies are working in the project area relocating their utilities before project construction starts.  Expect periodic nighttime lane closures on OR 99W, Southwest McDonald Street and Southwest Gaarde Street and intermittent daytime lane closures on Southwest Gaarde Street and Southwest McDonald Street between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Construction of a retaining wall will begin at Elmer’s restaurant, without affecting roadway traffic. Flaggers will assist customers around construction at Elmer’s parking lot.

During the day, crews will dig a receiving pit for the City of Tigard’s new water main between Elmer’s and Walgreens, without affecting roadway traffic. Flaggers will be present for safety precautions.​ 

The contractor will begin sidewalk removal to allow for construction of three retaining walls on the south side of McDonald, along with installing storm facilities.​

​Oregon Highway 99W – North Denver Avenue – from North Victory Boulevard to North Argyle Street

Project DescriptionThis project is rehabilitating and repaving the OR 99W (North Denver Avenue) bridge from North Victory Boulevard to North Argyle Street. The North Schmeer Road/Denver Avenue intersection and southbound ramp from North Victory Boulevard to North Denver Avenue will be realigned. The work is expected to be complete in the fall of 2015.

Traffic Impacts: Expect periodic, single lane nighttime closure on North Denver Avenue (between North Argyle Street and North Schmeer Road) from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., traffic will be directed by flaggers. 

Expect periodic, single lane nighttime closures on North Columbia Boulevard in both directions (between North Argyle Street and the southbound I-5 on-ramp) from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. 

The shoulder on northbound Denver Avenue off-ramp to North Victory Boulevard will be closed during the week.
