**Construction work requiring lane closures will cease in most construction zones from noon Friday, July 3, to midnight Sunday, July 5, for the Independence Day weekend.  Work may still take place off the roadway.  Construction zones with temporary lane restrictions, closures, and alignments will remain in effect. Motorists are asked to drive cautiously in work areas.**
 
Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) Delta Park – Victory Boulevard to Lombard Street: A contractor is working on a project to widen I-5 between Victory Boulevard and Lombard Street. The 1.2-mile project includes adding a third lane to southbound I-5, constructing a new southbound entrance ramp bridge at Columbia Boulevard, widening bridges and adding shoulders to northbound I-5. Lane closures on I-5 will only take place during nighttime hours, generally between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
 
The contractor has shifted northbound traffic to southbound lanes to begin working on the northbound bridge structure. During the week of July 6, through July 10, the contractor will perform paving and striping operations on I-5.  This work will require single lane closures on I-5 Monday through Thursday, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
 
During daytime work hours there will be periodic lane closures on Schmeer Road, Columbia Boulevard and the Columbia Boulevard to I-5 southbound on-ramp.  Watch for shoulder closures on the northbound I-5 Victory Boulevard off-ramp.  Flaggers will be on site to direct motorists and bicyclists.

Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) Tualatin River to Willamette River:  A contractor is working on a 7-mile paving project on I-5 between the Tualatin River and Willamette River in Wilsonville. Work includes widening the Nyberg Rd. off-ramp from I-5 south, adding auxiliary lanes on I-5 northbound from the Boone Bridge (Willamette River Bridge) to the Wilsonville Rd. off-ramp and from I-205 southbound to I-5 southbound to the Elligsen Rd. off-ramp, and building a new sound wall along I-5 south in Tualatin. Lane closures and ramp closures will take place at night primarily weeknights from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
 
For the week of Monday, July 6, through, July 10, the contactor will install temporary signs and perform water quality work throughout the project area.  This work will require daytime shoulder closures.
 
During nighttime work hours, the contractor will perform pavement repairs, excavation, paving for shoulder widening and ramp paving.  The pavement work will require lane closures on I-5 northbound from Wilsonville to Tualatin.  The contractor will begin closing lanes at 7:30 p.m. each night.  All lanes will be open by 6 a.m. the following morning. The on and off-ramps to Wilsonville Road will be closed intermittently each night between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. (7 a.m. Saturday mornings).

Interstate 84 (Columbia River Highway) – Columbia Gorge Bridge Projects:
Project summary: Replace and repair several bridges on Interstate 84 in the Columbia River Gorge.
* I-84 at Cascade Locks interchange (milepost 44): Westbound lanes are on a temporary alignment over U.S. 30 (Wa-Na-Pa Street). Expect daytime one-way traffic controlled by flaggers on the roadway connecting U.S. 30 to S.E. Frontage Road (beneath I-84). Watch for roadside crews and construction equipment and construction vehicles exiting and entering the westbound travel lanes of I-84.
* I-84 over Moody Avenue (milepost 44):  Watch for roadside work crews and construction equipment on Moody Avenue under I-84.
* I-84 over Herman Creek connector - Wyeth Road (milepost 47):  All travel lanes will be open in each direction for the remainder of the summer. Watch for roadside work crews and alternating one-way traffic on Wyeth Road under I-84.
* I-84 eastbound over UPRR (milepost 63.5):  Expect daytime single-lane closures.  Watch for roadside work crews and construction equipment entering and exiting the travel lanes.
* Second Street over UPRR at Hood River:  Watch for roadside crews and construction equipment under the bridge. Expect temporary reduction in local parking availability.
* I-84 at Moffett Creek:  Eastbound lanes are on a temporary alignment. Watch for daytime single-lane closures eastbound. Watch for roadside work crews and construction equipment entering and exiting the eastbound and westbound travel lanes of I-84. Please drive carefully through the work zone. Eastbound bicyclists should consider starting their trip at Tanner Creek (exit 40) due to shoulder closures and narrow lanes in this work zone.
* I-84 at the Dodson Interchange:  Watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the traffic lanes. Please drive carefully through the work zone.

Interstate 405 (Stadium Freeway) Fremont Bridge to Marquam Bridge: Work is under way on a project to repave Interstate 405 from the Fremont Bridge to the Marquam Bridge. Work includes repaving the ramps to and from I-405, relighting the freeway corridor and tunnels, and upgrading freeway signs. This work will require full directional weekend closures of I-405 later this summer and nighttime lane and ramp closures during the duration of the project.
 
For the week of Monday, July 6, through Friday, July 10, the contractor will install electrical conduit.  This work will require daytime left and right shoulder closures in both directions on      I-405. Night work will require multiple nighttime lane closures in both directions on I-405 starting at 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning. The closures will allow the contractor to perform measurements on the existing sign bridges.
 
Saturday night, July 11, the contractor will perform a paving test on S.W. Kelly Avenue east of Naito Parkway.  This work will take place nightly from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.  Flaggers will control one-way traffic on S.W. Kelly Ave. during the work.

U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway) 185th Ave. to Glencoe Rd. Preservation Project: A contractor is working on a paving project on U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway) from 185th Avenue to Glencoe Road.  In addition to paving both directions of the highway and the ramps, work will include adding cable barrier in the center median, repairing guardrail, upgrading highway signs, and striping.  Work on the project will primarily take place at night.
 
Monday, July 6, through Friday, July 10, the contractor will be performing drainage and guardrail work between 185th Avenue and Glencoe Rd. This work will take place during daytime work hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
 
During the week, the contractor plans to finish paving and striping eastbound ramps at Helvetia Road and Cornelius Pass Road. The contractor will pave the right lane of U.S. 26 westbound between 185th Ave. and Helvetia Road. Motorists should expect single lane closures on U.S. 26 westbound nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.  To prevent motorists from entering the work zone the on and off-ramps at 185th Ave., Cornelius Pass Road and Helvetia Road will be closed during the paving operation. The contractor will only close one ramp at a time during the work.  Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists during the ramp closures.

U.S. 26 (Mt. Hood Highway) Salmon River Bridge to E. Lolo Pass Road: A contractor is working on a safety project to add a left-turn lane on U.S. 26 from Wildwood to Wemme near Welches. The project also will repave Mt. Hood Highway between the Salmon River Bridge and E. Lolo Pass Road. 
 
The contractor will pave U.S. 26 between Brightwood Loop Rd. and Wildwood Park during the week of Monday, July 5 through Friday, July 10. Daytime work will require single lane closures in both directions daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists should also expect single lane closures in one direction 24 hours a day Monday through Friday. This work is weather permitting.
 
Please watch for construction activities when driving through the work zone on U.S 26.

U.S. 30 (Yeon Avenue) Nicolai Street to Kittridge Avenue Preservation Project: A contractor is working to repave U.S. 30/Yeon Avenue from Nicolai Street to Kittridge Avenue. Work includes removing the top layer of existing asphalt and installing a new asphalt surface.  New pavement striping will be added and sidewalk ramps will be replaced.  Daytime work hours are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.  All work requiring lane closures on the highway will take place during nighttime hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. 
 
During the week of Monday, July 6, to Friday, July 10, the contractor will perform signal upgrades during daytime work hours.  This work will require intermittent shoulder closures.  During nighttime hours, the contractor will adjust manholes between N.W. 29th Avenue and N.W. Kittridge Avenue. This work will require intermittent lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night.
Motorists should expect delays while traveling on U.S. 30/Yeon Avenue during the work.

Oregon Highway 6 Slide Repair: Milepost 33.25. to 34.25: A contractor is working on a project to build retaining walls on Highway 6 at the site of three landslides near the summit from mile post 33.25 to 34.25.  Work will primarily take place on the north side of the highway.  This project also includes grinding, paving and striping in the project area.  Motorists may experience up to 20-minute delays on Highway 6 during work hours.
 
During the week of Monday, July 6, to Friday, July 10, the contractor will install retaining wall anchors at mile post 33.75 and 34.25. Please watch for equipment in the roadway during work hours.  During daytime work hours, there will be lane closures in both directions of Highway 6.
Flaggers and pilot vehicles will direct motorists during the lane closures. Daytime work hours are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.  On Friday, July 10, the contractor will finish work by noon to accommodate weekend traffic in the area.
 
Please pay extra attention to construction workers on the shoulders when driving through the work zone.

Oregon Highway 99E (MLK, Jr. Boulevard and Grand Ave.) Viaduct Replacement: Work is under way on a project to replace the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Grand Avenue viaducts on Highway 99E. Lane closures on Highway 99E will only take place during nighttime hours. Normal daytime work hours are 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday, July 6, to Friday, July 10.
 
Traffic on the Highway 99E northbound viaduct has been shifted to a temporary structure.  Northbound traffic is shifted to the west to allow the contractor to begin building the new northbound viaduct.  Motorists are encouraged to slowdown when traveling through the new alignment.
 
Monday, July 6, the contractor will remove the old northbound structure.  This work will require nighttime closures of Division Street from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
 
The contractor has closed access to the on and off-ramp to southbound Highway 99E at Division Place. However, the on and off-ramp will remain open during the closure via a detour to S.E. 4th Avenue. This detour will be in effect until July.
 
The column and footings construction work will require the closure of Caruthers Street under the viaducts. Bikes and motor traffic will be detoured around the construction work during the Caruthers Street closure.  Other work will require a lane closure on Stephens Street, with flaggers controlling traffic during work hours.
 
The contractor has closed the ramp connecting westbound Division Street to northbound Highway 99E (Grand Avenue). This ramp is scheduled to be closed until 2010 to allow crews to remove the existing northbound viaduct and build a new structure.
 
During the ramp closure, motorists will be directed to take Division Street to northbound 7th Avenue to westbound Clay Street to northbound Highway 99E (Grand Avenue).

Oregon Highway 99W Sidewalk Improvement Project: 64th Avenue to Canterbury Lane: A contractor is working on a project to improve existing sidewalks and add new sidewalk to five locations on Highway 99W in Tigard between 64th Avenue and Canterbury Lane. Motorists should be aware of lane closures on Highway 99W during night work.  
 
During the week of Monday, July 6, to Friday, July 10, the contactor will continue to work on sidewalks through the project area during daytime work hours.

Oregon Highway 213 (Cascade Highway South) I-205 to S. Conway Drive: A contractor is working on a project to repave Highway 213 (Cascade Highway South) from Interstate 205 to Conway Drive in Oregon City.  The work includes roadway repairs, repaving, new signs, and updated signals.
 
Monday, July 6 through Saturday, July 11, the contractor will pave the ramps from I-205 northbound to Highway 213. This work will require closing the Oregon 213/Park Place Molalla off-ramp (exit 10) from I-205 northbound from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday night through Thursday night and 7:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday night through Saturday morning.
 
Motorists traveling to Oregon 213/Park Place Molalla (exit 10) can continue on I-205 northbound to the Gladstone/DMV off-ramp (exit 11), west to I-205 southbound, to Oregon 213/Park Place Molalla off-ramp (exit 10).
 
During the week, the contractor will pave the intersection of Highway 213 at Washington Street. The paving work will require lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning. Flaggers will direct motorists through the intersections of Highway 213 and Washington Street. 
Motorists can expect nighttime intermittent lane closures on Highway 213 between Redland Road and Beavercreek Road for barrier placement.  The lane closures will take place nightly from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. (9:00 a.m. Saturday).
 
During the week, the contractor will perform electrical work during daytime work hours. This work will require intermittent shoulder closures from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
 
Motorists should be aware that police will carry out enhanced traffic enforcement in the work zone. Please note the posted speed is 45 mph until the work is complete.

Oregon Highway 213 (Cascade Highway South) Culvert Repair: Last week a contractor finished emergency culvert and ditch repair on Highway 213 between Union Hall Road and Freeman Road near Mulino. This project included repairing damaged ditches from this past winter, enlarging two culverts and paving damaged roadway.
 
Oregon 217 Modernization Project: TV Highway to Sunset Highway: A contractor is working on a project to add a third through-lane to Highway 217 northbound between Oregon Highway 8 (Tualatin-Valley Highway) and U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway).  This project also includes building retaining walls and improving drainage on the highway, lengthening the Wilshire St. overpass,and paving and striping the project area and the Highway 217/U.S. 26 interchange ramps.  Lane closures on Highway 217 will only take place during nighttime hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
 
The contractor has installed temporary concrete barriers and striping through the project area. Motorists should watch for temporary lane restrictions as well as permanent changes to the lane configurations.
 
These changes included shifting northbound traffic to the west to create a work zone along the right shoulder. Additionally, only one lane connects Highway 217 northbound to U.S. 26 eastbound. Motorists must use the right lane to travel to U.S. 26 eastbound. Motorists traveling in the center lane of Highway 217 northbound will not be able to access U.S. 26 eastbound. The center lane of Highway 217 northbound will now only continue north to Barnes Road and will not connect to U.S. 26 eastbound. These new lane configurations will be in place for the duration of the project.
The Wilshire Street overpass is being prepared for reconstruction.  The sidewalk on the north side of the Wilshire Street overpass is closed.  Pedestrians are detoured to the sidewalk on the south side of the overpass.  The contractor recently reduced the number of travel lanes on the Wilshire Street overpass - only one travel lane remains open in each direction.  The current travel lane and sidewalk configurations will remain in place for the next several months.
 
The contractor will continue building the first retaining wall on Highway 217 near the Walker Rd. on-ramp during the week of Monday, July 6, to Friday, July 10. This work will take place behind a temporary barrier during daytime work hours from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
 
The contractor will also continue clearing the hillside in preparation for upcoming drainage and electrical work between Tualatin-Valley Highway and Walker Road, and between the Walker Road exit ramp and northbound Highway 217 in preparation for upcoming ramp widening.
During the week, the contractor will begin installing drainage pipe along the shoulder of Highway 217 northbound from the Cabot St. overpass to the Walker Road off-ramp and continue removing utilities from under the Wilshire Street overpass. This work will take place during daytime work hours from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
 
Please be aware that work zone speed limits will be enforced by enhanced police traffic patrols in the area.  Fines will double in this construction zone.

U.S. 30 (Yeon Avenue) Nicolai Street to Kittridge Avenue Preservation Project: A contractor is working to repave U.S. 30/Yeon Avenue from Nicolai Street to Kittridge Avenue. Work includes removing the top layer of existing asphalt and installing a new asphalt surface.  New pavement striping will be added and sidewalk ramps will be replaced.  Daytime work hours are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.  All work requiring lane closures on the highway will take place during nighttime hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. 
 
During the week of Monday, June 29, to Friday, July 3, the contractor will perform signal upgrades during daytime work hours.  This work will require intermittent shoulder closures.  During nighttime hours, the contractor will adjust manholes between N.W. 29th Avenue and N.W. Kittridge Avenue. This work will require intermittent lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night.
 
Motorists should expect delays while traveling on U.S. 30/Yeon Avenue during the work.
Please be alert to enhanced police traffic patrols in the U.S. 30 Yeon Avenue Preservation work area.

Oregon Highway 6 Slide Repair: Milepost 33.25. to 34.25: A contractor is working on a project to build retaining walls on Highway 6 at the site of three landslides near the summit from mile post 33.25 to 34.25.  Work will primarily take place on the north side of the highway.  This project also includes grinding, paving and striping in the project area.  Motorists may experience up to 20-minute delays on Highway 6 during work hours.
 
During the week of Monday, June 29, to Thursday, July 2, the contractor will install retaining wall anchors at mile post 33.25. Please watch for equipment in the roadway during work hours.  During daytime work hours, there will be lane closures in both directions of Highway 6.
 
Flaggers and pilot vehicles will direct motorists during the lane closures. Daytime work hours are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.  On Thursday, July 2, the contractor will finish work by noon to accommodate holiday traffic in the area.
 
Please pay extra attention to construction workers on the shoulders when driving through the work zone.

Oregon Highway 99E (MLK, Jr. Boulevard and Grand Ave.) Viaduct Replacement: Work is under way on a project to replace the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Grand Avenue viaducts on Highway 99E. Lane closures on Highway 99E will only take place during nighttime hours. Normal daytime work hours are 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 29, to Friday, July 3.
 
Traffic on the Highway 99E northbound viaduct will be shifted to a temporary structure Wednesday, July 1.  Northbound traffic will be shifted to the west to allow the contractor to begin building the new northbound viaduct.  Motorists are encouraged to slow down when traveling through the new alignment.
 
Nighttime work will require closing S.E. Division Street between S.E. 7th Ave. and S.E. 3rd Ave. to remove false work from the new MLK Blvd. Jr. southbound structure. The closures will begin nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and continue through the morning of July 3. The removal of false work will also require intermittent one-way traffic controlled by flaggers on Division Street between SE 3rd Avenue and SE 7th Avenue during daytime hours. 
 
Division Street detour:
From McLoughlin Blvd/Highway 99E northbound:
Motorists can take the U.S. 26 Ross Island Bridge off-ramp continue west on S.E. Woodward Street, to S.E. 8th Avenue, north to S.E. Division Street, west to S.E. 7th Avenue, north to S.E. Clay Street, west to S.E. 3rd Avenue.

From MLK Jr. Boulevard/Highway 99E southbound:
Motorists can take S.E. Clay Street, east to S.E. 7th Avenue, south to S.E. Division Street.
Division Street:

Motorists traveling on S.E. Division Street will be detoured to S.E. 7th Avenue, to S.E. Clay Street, to S.E. 3rd Avenue. 
 
The contractor has closed access to the on- and off-ramp to southbound Highway 99E at Division Place. However, the on and off-ramp will remain open during the closure via a detour to S.E. 4th Avenue. This detour will be in effect until July.
 
The column and footings construction work will require the closure of Caruthers Street under the viaducts. Bikes and motor traffic will be detoured around the construction work during the Caruthers Street closure.  Other work will require a lane closure on Stephens Street, with flaggers controlling traffic during work hours.
 
The contractor has closed the ramp connecting westbound Division Street to northbound Highway 99E (Grand Avenue). This ramp is scheduled to be closed until 2010 to allow crews to remove the existing northbound viaduct and build a new structure.
 
During the ramp closure, motorists will be directed to take Division Street to northbound
7th Avenue to westbound Clay Street to northbound Highway 99E (Grand Avenue).

Oregon Highway 99W Sidewalk Improvement Project: 64th Avenue to Canterbury Lane: A contractor is working on a project to improve existing sidewalks and add new sidewalk to five locations on Highway 99W in Tigard between 64th Avenue and Canterbury Lane. Motorists should be aware of lane closures on Highway 99W during night work.    
 
During the week of Monday, June 29, to Friday, July 3, the contactor will continue to work on sidewalks through the project area during daytime work hours.  During the week, the contractor will perform striping work on the Highway 99W southbound on-ramp to Highway 217 northbound.  The striping work will require two 20-minute ramp closures between the hours of
8 p.m. and 4 a.m.

Oregon Highway 213 (Cascade Highway South) I-205 to S. Conway Drive: A contractor is working on a project to repave Highway 213 (Cascade Highway South) from Interstate 205 to Conway Drive in Oregon City.  The work includes roadway repairs, repaving, new signs, and updated signals.
 
Monday, June 29 through Wednesday, July 1, the contractor will pave the ramps from I-205 southbound to Highway 213. This work will require closing the following ramps nightly from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m:
 
*Oregon 213/Park Place Molalla off-ramp (exit 10) from I-205 southbound
Detour: Motorists can take Oregon City to 99E (exit 9), south to I-205 northbound, north to Oregon 213/Park Place Molalla (exit 10).

* Highway 213 on-ramp to I-205 southbound
Detour: Motorists can take I-205 northbound to the Gladstone/DMV off-ramp (exit 11), west to the I-205 southbound on-ramp.
 
Tuesday night, June 30, the contractor will pave the intersection of Highway 213 at Washington Street. The paving work will require lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning. Flaggers will direct motorists through the intersections of Highway 213 and Washington Street. 
 
The contractor will perform electrical work during daytime work hours Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2. This work will require intermittent shoulder closures from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
 
Motorists should be aware that police will carry out enhanced traffic enforcement in the work zone. Please note the posted speed is 45 mph until the work is complete.

Oregon Highway 213 (Cascade Highway South) Culvert Repair: A contractor is performing emergency culvert and ditch repair on Highway 213 between Union Hall Road and Freeman Road near Mulino. This project will include repairing damaged ditches from this past winter, enlarging two culverts and paving damaged roadway.
 
The contractor will perform clean up work during the week of June 29-July 3.  Motorists should expect shoulder closures in both directions.
 
Oregon 217 Modernization Project: TV Highway to Sunset Highway: A contractor is working on a project to add a third through-lane to Highway 217 northbound between Oregon Highway 8 (Tualatin-Valley Highway) and U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway).  This project also includes building retaining walls and improving drainage on the highway, lengthening the Wilshire St. overpass,and paving and striping the project area and the Highway 217/U.S. 26 interchange ramps.  Lane closures on Highway 217 will only take place during nighttime hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
 
The contractor has installed temporary concrete barriers and striping through the project area. Motorists should watch for temporary lane restrictions as well as permanent changes to the lane configurations.
 
These changes included shifting northbound traffic to the west to create a work zone along the right shoulder. Additionally, only one lane connects Highway 217 northbound to U.S. 26 eastbound. Motorists must use the right lane to travel to U.S. 26 eastbound. Motorists traveling in the center lane of Highway 217 northbound will not be able to access U.S. 26 eastbound. The center lane of Highway 217 northbound will now only continue north to Barnes Road and will not connect to U.S. 26 eastbound. These new lane configurations will be in place for the duration of the project.
 
The Wilshire Street overpass is being prepared for reconstruction.  The sidewalk on the north side of the Wilshire Street overpass is closed.  Pedestrians will be detoured to the sidewalk on the south side of the structure.  The contractor recently reduced the number of travel lanes on the Wilshire Street overpass - only one travel lane remains open in each direction. 
 
The contractor will continue building the first retaining wall on Highway 217 near the Walker Rd. on-ramp during the week of Monday, June 29, to Thursday, July 3. This work will take place behind a temporary barrier during daytime work hours from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
 
The contractor will also continue clearing the hillside in preparation for upcoming drainage and electrical work on OR 217 between Tualatin-Valley Highway and Walker Road, and between the Walker Road off-ramp and northbound Highway 217.
 
The contractor will begin installing drainage pipe along the shoulder of Highway 217 northbound from the Cabot St. overpass to the Walker Road off-ramp and continue removing utilities from under the Wilshire Street overpass. This work will take place during daytime work hours from
7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
 
Please be aware that work zone speed limits will be enforced by enhanced police traffic patrols in the area.  Fines will double in this construction zone.
