A contractor for ODOT began a paving project in April 2013 on OR 99W in both directions from the Tualatin River Bridge to Sunset Boulevard, a distance of approximately 4.7 miles. This stretch of highway travels through King City, Tualatin, unincorporated Washington County and Sherwood.
The pavement on OR 99W in this section is deteriorated and in need of rehabilitation. Grinding and paving the highway will repair and preserve the roadway and provide a smoother roadway surface. The current striping will be replaced with durable thermoplastic striping and raised pavement markings.
This work is weather dependent and will be delayed in wet weather.
Schedule Work began in April 2013 and will finish in October 2013. The contractor plans to primarily work at night, Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (until 9 a.m. Saturday mornings). There may be occasional night work on Saturdays and Sundays. This work is weather dependent and will be delayed in wet weather.Traffic impacts Traffic volumes are too high on OR 99W for lane closures during the day. Any work requiring lane closures – which is most of the project – will take place at night. Traffic impacts will include nighttime lane closures on OR 99W, often one lane in each direction simultaneously. When paving through a signalized intersection, the traffic signal will be turned off and flaggers will control all directions of traffic. Please drive carefully through the construction zone.
Nighttime noise ODOT has obtained noise permits from the jurisdictions involved. The contractor will be required to turn off backup alarms during the nighttime work. A 24‐hour noise hotline is available to call at all hours should a noise concern arise: 503‐412‐2376.
Please drive carefully through the construction zone.
