US 20-Lebanon Paving

Overview

This project will grind, remove and place approximately two inches of asphalt on US 20 (Santiam Hwy.), beginning in Lebanon and continuing 3.3 miles south. The project will cover a four-lane section and the signalized left-turn lanes.  All striping and legends will be replaced.

The specific project limits are US 20 from the Albany & Eastern RR track to the intersection of Crowfoot/Weirich Streets (MP 12.7-16)

The pavement on this stretch of US 20 is in very poor condition, receiving extremely low ratings of 20 or below on a pavement condition scale where 100 is the highest rating.

This project will also replace the signal loops that will be removed during construction.  Replacement will come within two months of paving completion.

Construction Schedule

TO LEARN ABOUT CONSTRUCTION STAGING, READ THIS MEDIA RELEASE.

Construction could begin as early as May 13.  Once construction is underway, the project should be completed within two weeks.

Most of the work will be done at night to avoid a major impact on traffic.  Currently, the tentative schedule indicates work will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 6 a.m., 7 days a week.

 Impacts to Public

Project construction will be timed to avoid holidays and significant events, specifically Memorial Day Weekend and the Lebanon Strawberry Festival.

During construction, motorists can expect lane closures and flagging along the construction zone.  Delays of 5-20 minutes should be anticipated.  There will be detours when the Main St./Park St. couplet is paved in downtown Lebanon.

Parking will not be allowed in certain locations during the nighttime construction.  Vehicles left in the construction zones will be towed, if necessary.

Motorists should pay attention to traffic control signs for lane and parking availability.

 Freight Traffic

Fright traffic on US 20 near Lebanon should anticipate 5-20 minute delays during nighttime construction.  There will be no freight restrictions associated with this project.  All oversize loads will be accommodated.
