U.S. 97 Pilot Butte Canal Bridge Work - Traffic Switch
Wildish Standard Paving Company anticipates shifting traffic to newly reconstructed lanes at the U.S. 97 Pilot Butte Canal Bridge Replacement Project during the week of March 21, 2005, weather permitting. This switch, which will take place between 7 pm. and 6 am. , will return traffic to the original alignment. Intermittent night and weekend construction activity is possible. During night work, contractor crews may reduce traffic from four- to two-lanes with flaggers controlling motorist movements. This phase of work will wrap-up the bridge replacement project and is expected to be complete in late spring 2005.
About the Pilot Butte Canal Bridge Replacement
The Pilot Butte Canal Bridge Replacement Project is located on U.S. 97 at milepost 129.7, five miles north of Bend. Crews replaced the existing bridge over the Pilot Butte Canal with a new subsurface pipe/culvert.
This project, which will increase traffic flow and safety, is part of a $30.5 million contract awarded to Wildish Standard Paving to replace 11 bridges on U.S. 26, U.S. 97 and Oregon 224 and funded by is funded by the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA) http://www.odot.state.or.us/otia/otia3index.htm. The Oregon Legislature created OTIA to repair and replace Oregon’s cracked and aging bridges. OTIA projects will enhance the safety, convenience and movement of traffic throughout the state of Oregon.
