Bandit Springs Rest Area Closed for Work

The Bandit Springs Rest Area, located 28 miles east of Prineville on US Highway 26, will be closed Monday, June 13 through Friday, July 1 for reconstruction. Temporary rest room facilities will be available at the Ochoco Divide Sno-park, which is 1/2 mile east of Bandit Springs Rest Area on US 26.

The project will include replacing the sidewalks and paving the parking area. Work is funded by a grand from the Western Federal Lands Highway Division.

The Oregon Department of Transportation maintenance crews take care of nearly 70 safety rest areas along the state’s highway system. Safety rest areas are provided to offer a stopping place for travelers to take a short break from driving, relax, have a snack, or use the restroom.  A list of safety rest areas and the features that are available at each is included on ODOT´s travel information web site at www.tripcheck.com/General/restareas.

For more information about the Bandit Springs Rest Area closure, contact William Hilton at 541-388-6054.
