   Redmond Reroute Groundbreaking Event Set

Members of the media are cordially invited to attend the ODOT Region 4 groundbreaking event for the new Redmond Reroute construction project, at 9:30am, Friday March 9.  Location: Across from St. Charles Medical Center in Redmond on N. Canal.  Ample parking and footbridge across canal.  Maple Avenue Overpass as background.

The Reroute project is a two-year, 25 million dollar highway construction project that will take through-traffic along an eastern corridor of the city center and away from the core of downtown Redmond.  This new highway construction project will bring significant relief to traffic congestion in the city center.  Initial clearing has begun for the project, with major work set to begin as soon as weather permits.  Completion is set for approximately November 30, 2008.

VIP’s expected to attend the event include Region 4 Manager Bob Bryant, other Region 4 executives, Redmond Mayor Al Unger, Redmond City Council members, Redmond Public Works managers and others.  Invitations are being extended to Governor Kulongoski, State Legislators and other dignitaries.

At this event, reporters will be provided information about the progress of the project, as well as the calendar of events regarding potential impacts on traffic, including road closures, which are expected periodically.
