Proposed Project Schedule:
Construction start: February 2005
Project complete: Fall 2006
On Highland Avenue (OR 126), between 23rd Street (MP 110.9) and 5th Street (MP 111.94) in Redmond. Glacier Avenue is one block north of Highland Avenue.
When the couplet is finished, Highland Avenue will accommodate eastbound highway traffic and Glacier Avenue will be one-way for westbound traffic. Ninth Street will be one-way northbound and 11th Street will be one-way southbound. The purpose of the project is to alleviate congestion and provide improvements to Redmond’s east-west transportation system. Other elements of the project include new sidewalks, bike lanes, signals, drainage system, landscaping, ornamental lighting and a pedestrian crossing under the highway.
Once complete, the OR126: Glacier-Highland Couplet will become integral to the function of the US 97 Reroute and dramatically enhance traffic mobility around and through the community of Redmond.
Various lane and street closures will take place. Westbound traffic was stitched to the improved Glacier Avenue in November 2005.
