Project Location:
The US 97 bridge over Greensprings Drive is located at milepost 275.8 of US 97 in Klamath County south of the city of Klamath Falls.
Purpose of the Project:
The bridge is structurally deficient and in need of replacement. Greensprings Bridge has cracking noted with expected increases in load demands. Bridge inspection reports rate the superstructure condition as poor with extensive cracking.
Traffic Changes during Construction:
The bridge will be part of a work zone that includes the US 97 bridge over California and First Streets in Klamath Falls (milepost 274.7). The total work zone will stretch for approximately 1.5 miles. Reduced speeds (45 mph) will be posted through the zone. Traffic will be reduced to one lane over the Greensprings Bridge, with half of the bridge being demolished at a time.
Information During Construction:
A pre-construction meeting was held on Sept. 30, 2004, which included officials from the City of Klamath Falls and Klamath County. Signs will be posted for the construction zone prior to the beginning of construction.  Variable message board signs will be placed north and south of the project work areas providing information about lane restrictions. Travel advisories will be issued for lane restrictions.
