Proposed Project Schedule:
Begin Construction March 2006
Project Location:
US 97 at South Century Drive in Deschutes County
Project Description:
South Century Drive serves as the primary access to Sunriver and recreation areas in southern Deschutes County.  A full diamond interchange will be built to improve safety and operations problems at the existing intersection and to accommodate an increase in traffic from projected population growth. The interchange will consist of two-lane bridges for both north- and southbound traffic on US 97. South Century Drive will go under the two bridges, which are separated by a 120-foot vegetative median. The final design includes landscaping and illumination.
Construction Staging:
March 2006 – November 2006
• Begin building northbound travel lanes, northbound interchange ramp lanes and the US 97 northbound bridge. 
• United State Forest Service will complete temporary connection to Lava Cast Forest from the Cottonwood interchange. 
• Closure of South Century Drive for three days is needed to build a temporary connection from South Century Drive to the northbound travel lanes – (tentatively scheduled to occur during October/November 2006). 
• Switch traffic onto new northbound alignment to allow for construction of southbound lanes.

• November 2006 – November 2007
• Build new southbound travel lanes, southbound interchange ramp lanes, southbound US 97 bridge complete South Century Drive under US 97.  All work except top lift of paving will be completed.
• Closure of South Century Drive for three days is needed to remove temporary connection from South Century Drive and to complete southbound off-ramp to South Century Drive.  Advance notices will help coordinate alternate routes to use during this closure.
• Interchange open to traffic
November 07 – May 08
• Complete final lift of paving, which will take three weeks during warm weather
Project Facts:
• Contractor is Hap Taylor & Sons, located in Bend, Oregon
• Project budget is approximately $9.4 million
• Funding partners include State, Federal, Deschutes County, Sunriver Resort, Sunriver Homeowners Association, Crosswater Homeowners Association, and Vandevert Homeowners Association
