Hells Canyon Scenic Byway Open For Business
A small portion of the beautiful Hells Canyon Scenic Byway loop in northeastern Oregon will be closed for repair due to a washout. Heavy rains in the spring of 2010 closed Forest Road 39 approximately 1.4 miles north of State Highway 86.  The available detour will be Forest Service road 66, weather permitting.

The washout affected only the Wallowa Mountain Loop section of the 218-mile Byway; three other segments remain open and offer visitors rich cultural and recreational experiences while the damaged section is repaired.
