    Research Rearview Mirror
    The Research Section oversees the state's federally funded research, development and technology transfer program with particular emphasis on new technology intended to enhance the performance of Oregon's transportation systems. Major current research focuses on safety, infrastructure repair and preservation, maintenance practices, innovative contracting and project delivery, sustainable environmental practices, and the land-use, transportation connection.

​The Research Program fosters innovation within the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) by researching, developing, testing and evaluating new and innovative transportation products, materials, methods and processes. 



The ODOT Library provides technical resources and assistance to ODOT employees, other agencies, and to the public.  Publications can be accessed through the online catalog; requests can be sent via email or phone 503-986-3280.  The library also houses the ODOT History Center documenting the history of the agency. 


The Oregon Technology Transfer (T2) Center is training, technical assistance, instructional materials and technology transfer to local transportation agencies. The Technology Transfer (T2) Center is jointly sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration, the counties and cities of Oregon.
